What is Asian American Studies?

In this major, you’ll gain an interdisciplinary training in the humanities and a social science approach to the study of race, gender, sexuality, diversity, citizenship, and globalization. You’ll learn how to identify and critically evaluate theory issues and methods. Finally, you’ll broaden your understanding of Asian American history, experiences, and contemporary issues while also understanding race and diversity across the United States as a whole. The department also aims to conduct scholarly intellectual efforts integral to those of local, regional, national, and international Asian American communities.
