What is Computer Science & Linguistics?

This is a flexible, interdisciplinary program for students who plan to pursue technical or professional careers in Linguistics requiring a strong grounding in Computer Science. You’ll learn the computational tools of computer science through programming and empirical research, as well as philosophical analysis. You’ll also gain experience in labs, where our faculty members are at the forefront of experimental research. As a Computer Science and Linguistics student, you’ll be able to harness the power of computers to better explain and understand the cognitive aspects of natural languages, combining the two fields to give computers more natural, human-like behavior and understanding of natural language, and also creating user-friendly programs that use natural language communication.
