Our university has long been a leading center for the study and research of the cultures and languages of East Asia. This major is for students looking for a professional career or graduate study involving East Asia. You'll establish a firm competence in an East Asian language. You'll also gain in-depth knowledge of East Asian cultures and advanced knowledge of the region. Our department emphasizes research and writing through small seminar courses. We also offer a Teacher Education option that prepares graduates to teach Mandarin Chinese or Japanese.
