What is Jazz Performance?

This major will prepare you for a career in instrumental or vocal jazz performance. You’ll study comprehensive coursework in jazz solo and ensemble literatures. Courses offered include keyboard, improvisation, arranging, jazz history, composition, styles, pedagogy, music business, applied instruction, and ensembles. You’ll also have the chance to participate in some of our 18 campus jazz ensembles, and numerous performance and studio recording opportunities exist both on and off campus. You must pass an audition for acceptance into this program.
